Green

Driving through the countryside or even walking to work I am struck by how green the grass is here. Even just as the snow melts off it it looks happy.
The days are getting fractionally longer and it's even trying to be sunny.
This is our local park Bury Knowle.

Pancake Tuesday

The Pope may have resigned but it is still shrove Tuesday. And this means one thing pancakes! Or actually crepes Suzette (minus brandy flambé as didn't have any). Good times. And a match for the snow returning this week.

Pies galore!

When on a sunny Saturday afternoon the covered market had rabbit I decided it was time to give my new pie bird a whirl!
It didn't sing but my rabbit and mushroom pie was tasty and had a crisp top. I even managed to get my new glass pie dish for just £1.50 from the local charity shop. Score!
It was a very gamey day with venison ragu in the slow cooker too. Good times.

Pineapple meringue pie

Inspired by the pineapple princesses http://pineappleprincesses.blogspot.co.uk/?m=1 and the old book of red cross recipes mum found I made a pineapple meringue pie last week as a sweet treat for my house officers.
I didn't have a pie dish so I had to improvise with a spring form tin but otherwise it worked out ok.
Sadly the background is not as pretty as Annes are! Check out their blog for the recipe. It's very simple to make.
